Written Assignments

All units within the qualification are internally assessed through written assignments. Assessments are internally marked by the Qualifi approved centre and are subject to external quality assurance by Qualifi.

Qualifi provides written assessment tasks for each unit. These tasks address the relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria, all of which must be successfully demonstrated to achieve the qualification.

Assessment activities may require learners to:

  • Apply relevant business and management theories and concepts
  • Draw upon work-related information and examples
  • Research real organisations
  • Use organisational information or case studies
  • Analyse business challenges and opportunities
  • Make judgements and develop practical solutions
  • Produce recommendations and justify decisions
  • Complete practical activities where required

Qualifi provides a Candidate Workbook for each unit, which learners use to record their answers and cross-reference supporting evidence relating to practical tasks where applicable.

As the qualification consists of six mandatory units, and Qualifi provides written assessment tasks for each unit, learners are assessed through written assignments across all six units.

Some assessment tasks may also contain a practical component requiring observation by an assessor.

The grading structure is:

  • Fail: 0 to 39%
  • Pass: 40 to 59%
  • Merit: 60 to 69%
  • Distinction: 70% and above

Learners must meet all assessment criteria across all six units to achieve the qualification.

Successful completion of the Qualifi Level 5 Diploma in Business Management enables learners to progress to:

  • A Qualifi Level 6 Diploma in a related area
