About This Course

The Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Business Management is designed to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and practical capabilities in business and management. The qualification supports both academic and professional development and is intended to help learners build the analytical, evaluative and transferable skills required within modern organisations.

The programme develops knowledge across important management areas including organisational communication, leadership, finance, change management, business operations and team development. Learners are encouraged to connect management theories with their practical application in the business environment.

The qualification consists of six mandatory Level 4 units, each worth 20 credits, providing a total of 120 credits. It has 480 Guided Learning Hours and 1,200 hours of Total Qualification Time. The Qualification Accreditation Number stated in the specification is 601/6048/2.

Am I eligible for this programme?

Applicants must be aged 18 or above.

The specification states that learners entering the Level 4 programme are envisaged to have a Level 3 qualification.

Approved centres are responsible for reviewing each applicant and determining whether they have the ability to successfully complete the programme and meet the demands of the qualification.

For applicants whose first language is not English, IELTS 6 or equivalent is required.

Applicants are normally required to provide two supporting references, with at least one preferably being academic.

Module Listing

The qualification consists of six mandatory units. Learners must successfully complete all six units to achieve the Level 4 Diploma in Business Management.

1. Communications in Organisations

20 Credits

This unit explores communication at organisational, interpersonal and internal and external levels. Learners examine communication practices, systems, styles and tools while developing their own interpersonal communication skills and considering how effective communication can support organisational objectives and change.

2. Leadership and the Organisation

20 Credits

This unit develops an understanding of practical leadership within changing organisational environments. Learners examine the attributes and skills of successful leaders, leadership theories and models, different leadership styles and how particular approaches can be applied to different organisational situations.

3. Financial Awareness

20 Credits

This unit introduces the nature, role and importance of financial information from a managerial perspective. Learners explore accounting principles, financial information and its interpretation, financial performance and how financial information can contribute to organisational decision-making.

4. Managing Change

20 Credits

This unit develops learners’ understanding of organisational change and the processes involved in managing it effectively. Learners explore change management models, analyse organisational issues, consider different options for change and develop plans for implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

5. Business Operations

20 Credits

This unit focuses on the effective and efficient planning and management of business activities. Learners examine business processes, operational planning, organisational goals, resource requirements, performance measures and approaches to monitoring and improving operational effectiveness.

6. Developing Teams

20 Credits

This unit focuses on building, developing and supporting effective teams. Learners examine team roles, individual skills and potential, leadership within teams, performance monitoring and approaches to managing poor performance and conflict while helping teams achieve organisational objectives.

Written Assignments

All units within the qualification are internally assessed through written assignments. Assessments are internally marked by the Qualifi approved centre and are subject to external quality assurance by Qualifi.

Qualifi provides written assessment tasks for each unit. These tasks are designed to address the relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria, all of which must be successfully demonstrated to achieve the qualification.

Assessment activities may require learners to:

University Progression

Successful completion of the Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Business Management enables learners to progress to:
